Maka Jishkariani

Maka Jishkariani was born on March 11, 1971, in Tbilisi. From 1986 to 1989, she studied at the Karaman Kutateladze Fine Arts Studio. From 1989 to 1995, she studied at the Tbilisi State Academy of Arts, Faculty of Visual Arts, majoring in Painting and Monumental Restoration.

Maka Jishkariani is a representative of the 1990s generation. Despite the difficulties of that era, she successfully connected her work to a field related to painting – advertising and graphic design. At various times, she tried her hand at clothing design, leather accessories, furniture, ceramics, and interior design, though painting was always the starting point of her work. Observing the environment, seeing beauty in everyday objects, and transferring it into a digital format are expressions of her world.

Jishkariani’s creative practice encompasses painting, computer graphics, and functional art (art furniture, household objects, and others). She began her professional career as an art director at the Georgian Public Broadcasting. At various times, she worked in advertising companies (“Kedi TV”, “McCann Tbilisi” as art director). Between 2012 and 2019, she was a lecturer at the Georgian Institute of Public Affairs (GIPA), and in 2024, a jury member of the Georgian National Film Center. In recent years, she has been working as a freelancer.

She has participated in numerous personal and group exhibitions, including: 2024 — TAF (Tbilisi Art Fair), group exhibition in Kutaisi (David Kakabadze Fine Art Gallery), as well as exhibitions in Basel (Switzerland) and Antwerp (Belgium), and many others.
