Merabishvili Paara

Sculptor, graphic artist, painter, and designer. Born in Tbilisi into a family of artists and art historians, he received his art education at the Iakob Nikoladze Art College and later at the Tbilisi State Academy of Arts, where he studied sculpture under the guidance of Professor Giorgi Ochiauri.

After graduating from the Academy in 1990, he became a member of the Artists’ Union of Georgia and later of the Moscow Artists’ Union (МСХ) — a regional creative public organization, the legal successor of the Artists’ Union of the USSR.

Since 1996, Merabishvili has lived and worked in Moscow. In 2019, he was elected an honorary member of the Russian Academy of Arts.

Since 1988, he has participated in numerous group exhibitions in Moscow and St. Petersburg. In 2008, a solo exhibition of his works was held at Manezh in Moscow. In 2023, his first solo exhibition in Tbilisi took place at Vanda Gallery, and in 2025, it was organized by the same gallery at the National Gallery of Georgia.

He has designed several Russian art prizes and created the sculptural composition “The Man of Wine.” His sculpture “Infinity” is installed in Moscow’s Zaryadye Park, built on the former site of the Hotel Rossiya. The project was named Public Architecture Project of the Year 2018 by the international magazine ArchDaily. He also designed the interior of the restaurant “Babushka” near Patriarch’s Ponds in Moscow.

His works are distinguished by a minimalist aesthetic and imagery reduced to signs. In his sculptures, he employs local color schemes.
