Lela Tabliashvili studied at the Tbilisi State Academy of Arts in 1986-92, at the Graphic Arts department in the animation workshop. The diploma work was an animated version of Vepkhistkaosani (The Knight in the Tiger’s Skin) – director Mamia Malazonia. In 1988, she was on training practice at the Academy of Arts in Prague, Czechoslovakia. Since 1994, she has been a member of the Union of Graphic Designers of UNESCO in Moscow. Since 1997, she has been a member of the Union of Artists of Georgia. Member of the Union of Children’s Writers and Illustrators (USA) since 2008. In 1992-1994, she worked as a costume designer in Tbilisi Muscomedia and K. Marjanishvili theaters. Since 1993, she has been working at the Art Academy of Georgia, in the animation workshop. In 2010-2017, she works as an assistant professor of the Academy of Arts in the Department of Media Arts. In 2010, 2011 and 2012, she was nominated for the Astrid Lindgren Memorial Award. In 2006-2008, Lela cooperates with US book publishing houses: Novasciences Publisher and AEG Publishing House.
She systematically participates in exhibitions, both in Georgia and abroad: international exhibition at the Folklore Center Dolls (2009); International exhibition and workshop in Trabzon, Turkey (2013); International Symposium Draw for Georgia in Mtskheta (2014-2016); International exhibition in Paris, France, in the Louvre exhibition hall Carousel de Louvre (2016-2019, 2022).
Lela Tabliashvili’s works are preserved in art academies in Prague and Portland, as well as in private collections in Georgia, USA, Russia, Holland, Germany, Luxembourg and Ukraine.
