Okrostsvaridze Manuchar

Manuchar Okorstsvaridze studied in Tbilisi State Academy of Arts in 1991-1997. He is among the interesting artists who appeared at the art scene of Georgia in the begging of 2000s. He actively participates in the local and international solo and group projects. In recent years his main stream is minimalist paintings, drawings and objects. He considers them as “short visual messages” and “esthetic ideaographies”. He is the co-founder and the concept author of the critic art magazine – “Impression” (2008-2009). His recent important projects are: the exhibition of conceptual graphical works ‘Waste Paper’ 2011 (curated by the artist), Solo project ‘EXISTERE’ 2012, ‘Spice Up’ Alles Mögliche Art Institute art residence, Berlin, 2016. The inspiration of his projects are existential and social issues in connection with subjects of person’s self-identification, dependence on social status, the influence of time, the impossibility of stability, inner conflicts…It is difficult to define Manuchar Okrostsvaridze art by any concrete style, it is altogether – minimalism, conceptualism and contemporary art. But it is not the visual eclecticism. His art is a live dialog in a language of visual messages, images with the world surrounding us.
