Thea Gvetadze was born in Riga in 1971. In 1988-1993 she was graduated from the Tbilisi State Academy of Arts. Afterwards she continued studying at Gerrit Rietveld Academy (Amsterdam, Netherlands). During 1994-2001 she studied at Dusseldorf State Art Academy in  Germany. Currently, artists lives and works in Tbilisi.

Thea Gvetadzeworks in different mediums, but painting and painted objects are the most important in her art. Artist also studies space and creates site-specific objects. In her paintings, Thea creates contemporary symbolism which is also connected to Georgian identity. Thea’s art expresses emotional motives based on symbol, myth, and allegory.
