Melikishvili Davit

In 1979, Davit Melikishvili graduated from the Art Pedagogical School named after I. Nikoladze. In 1979-84, he studied at the Tbilisi State Art Academy. Since 1989, he cooperated with “Ano da Vano” magazine. He designed the cover for the book Marina Mamulashvili’s prose. He works in painting and graphics, ceramics and also in photo-sculpture. He paints mainly portraits, as well as compositions and landscapes. For Davit Melikishvili, the subject of interest and search is “the contradictory nature of human, with complex labyrinths and a deep “chasm”, which sometimes even causes dizziness.” Since 1981, he systematically participates in autumn and spring exhibitions “Artist’s House” (more than 17 exhibitions). He had solo exhibitions at the Tbilisi History Museum Karvasla, Tacita Gallery, Nutsubidze Gallery, Caucasus House, Old Gallery (2002), Chardin Gallery (2010), Literature Museum (2016), etc. In 1996, the artist’s exhibition was held “L’Association Couleur Musique Mouvement” exhibition hall in Paris. His works are kept in private collections of Georgia, Germany and France.
