Zurab Lezhava was an accomplished graphic artist, teacher, and professor who headed the Graphic Design Department at the Tbilisi Academy of Arts. He was an Honored Artist of Georgia and an Honored Citizen of Tbilisi. An alumnus of the Tbilisi Academy of Arts, he graduated in 1950 with a qualification in graphic arts and began teaching there in 1960.
From 1968 to 1972, he served as the secretary of the Georgian Artists Union, and in 1970, he became the chairman of the same organization. The landscape became the main motif of his art, with notable works including the series Old Tbilisi (1962-1999), Rioni Gorge (1960), and Fans at the Entrance of Stadium (1960). He also illustrated The Stepmother of Sanamishvili, the story by Davit Kldiashvilis.
His works are preserved in the Georgian National Gallery and the Art Museum of Georgia.
