Honored Artist of Georgia, painter, graphic artist, and book designer Givi Gulisashvili was an alumnus of the Tbilisi Academy of Arts, graduating from Mose Toidze’s class in 1938. He began participating in art exhibitions soon after. The main motifs of his works are images of horses and historical figures.
He illustrated several books by Georgian writers, including Magdana’s Donkey by Ekaterine Gabashvili, The Children’s Stories by Iorion Evdoshvili, and Spring Swallows by Anna Khakhutashvili. Among his notable paintings are The Incident on the Border (1930), Bathing of Horses (1938), Competition of the Brave (1953), Georgian (1978), and King Irakli (1983). His works are preserved in the National Gallery of Georgia and private collections.
