Beka Chkhaidze

Beka Chkhaidze is a Georgian sculptor, painter, and graphic artist, and a representative of the younger generation of contemporary Georgian sculpture. He was born on August 16, 1998, in Tbilisi. between 2016 and 2024, he studied at the Tbilisi State Academy of Arts, where he obtained his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in the Sculpture program, under the tutelage of Levan Muzashvili.

Chkhaidze’s artistic practice encompasses portrait, figurative, abstract, and monumental sculpture. His works place particular emphasis on the exploration of memory, historical themes, and the human figure. In his sculptural practice, he attaches particular importance to the properties of materials and to the relationship between form and space.

Among his significant works is the bronze bust of Nikoloz Khudadov, created in 2020 and installed at the Tbilisi Tuberculosis Center as part of the “Student Public Art” project. During the same period, he created Head of a Warrior, which is preserved in the permanent collection of the Tsalenjikha Museum. In 2023, as part of an international metal sculpture symposium held at the Leuville Estate in France, he created a monumental abstract horse torso. In the same year, following his victory in a Tbilisi City Hall competition, the sculptor created a bronze bust of Iustine Abuladze, which is installed in the Pantheon of the First Building of Tbilisi State University.

Chkhaidze was awarded a Gold Medal at the international exhibition Urban Expression. He also received First Prize in the TASA Sculpture Competition for his work Iron Age. He has additionally participated in the TASA Sculpture Festival and Plaster Symposium.

In 2025, his project Gurian Horsemen in America won a competition. The resulting monumental sculpture, funded by the Jorbenadze family, was inaugurated in 2025 in the village of Chibati, Guria.

Since 2024, Chkhaidze has been a visiting lecturer in Sculpture at the Tbilisi State Academy of Arts. He also teaches at the Faculty of Architecture of the Georgian Technical University.
