Chingiz Farzalyev was born in 1943. In 1973, he graduated from V. Surikov Moscow State Art Institute, Faculty of Painting. Since 2008, he has been a professor at the State Art Academy of Azerbaijan. Since 2010, he has been the director of the National Museum of Azerbaijan. Chingiz Farzalyev is an outstanding artist and public figure. He is the owner of many international academic regalia, orders and awards: Cambridge University International Information-Biographical Center and V. Honorary Professor of Surikov Moscow State Art Institute; Honorary Doctorate of Tbilisi State Art Academy. For his contribution to world culture and science, he was awarded the title of honorary member of the European Academy of Natural Sciences of Hanover. He was awarded the Grand Order of Merit for meritorious service to the Republic of Austria; Presidential Order of Excellence of Georgia; Order of Glory for contribution to the development of fine arts of Azerbaijan; French Order of Arts and Letters for contributions to art and literature; Ataturk International Prize; Medal of Nizami Ganjevi and others. Chingiz Farzalyev’s art is known for impressive landscapes, still lifes and philosophical content of works. In 2023, a retrospective exhibition of Chingiz Farzalyev – On the Steps of Time – was held in Dimitri Shevardnadze National Gallery.
