Sopho Chkhikvadze was born in 1972 in Tbilisi, Georgia. She studied art at the Nikoladze Art College, before going on to complete a masters degree at the Tbilisi State Academy of Art. She lives and works in London, United Kingdom.

Sopho Chkhikvadze mainly works in painting. Her artworks are similar to cuts from real life or films resembling a somewhat naïve style that evokes an emotional response in the viewer. Sometimes Sopho’s characters are represented in the background of desolate landscape, vast field or sea. This brings mystic and surrealistic mood into the painting. Signs and symbols are often exposed in Chkhikvadze’s paintings, playing an important role in image interpretation.

Sopho’s works are held in the Moscow Modern Art Museum, Muzeum Montanelli as well as in private collections all over Europe.
