Kochar: The Multidimensional Genius (Tiflis–Paris–Yerevan).

A Century Later, the Maestro’s Art Returns to Its Spiritual Homeland: A Landmark Exhibition, Kochar: The Multidimensional Genius, to Open in Tbilisi

On 8 October 2026 at 18:00, as part of the Days of Armenian Culture in Georgia, the Dimitri Shevardnadze National Gallery of the Georgian National Museum will open the conceptual retrospective exhibition Kochar: The Multidimensional Genius (Tiflis–Paris–Yerevan).

The project is realized with the support of the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sport of the Republic of Armenia, under the auspices of the Embassy of the Republic of Armenia in Georgia. It is the result of a historic collaboration between the Ervand Kochar Museum, the National Gallery of Armenia, the Armenian Center for Contemporary Experimental Art (NPAK), and the National Museum of Georgia.

At the conceptual heart of the project is Ervand Kochar’s pioneering Painting in Space (Peinture dans l’espace). Through contemporary technologies, installations, and other media, the exhibition traces the continuing relevance of his visionary thought, revealing its remarkable capacity to transcend its historical moment and speak with renewed force to the present.

Coinciding with the opening of the exhibition, a new trilingual illustrated catalogue, Kochar: The Multidimensional Genius, in Armenian, Georgian, and English, will also be presented. Authored by Karine Kochar, the publication is enriched with valuable archival discoveries and newly uncovered documentary material from recent years.

The exhibition will be open to visitors from 8 October to 8 November 2026.
