Jemal Japaridze Retrospective Exhibiton at Dimitri Shevardnadze National Gallery

In 1959 he graduated from the Tbilisi Academy of Arts.

His graduate works supervised by the sculptor Nikoloz Kandelaki represented outstanding Georgian classical ballet-dancer Vakhtang Chabukiani titled “Ballet Master Vakhtang Chabukiani” and Queen Tamar. Since 1960 his works has been extensively exhibited in different shows in and outside Georgia. Jemal Japaridze’s works made in marble, wood and metal ranges from monumental and park sculpture genres to portraiture. The main motifs and images in Jemal Japaridze’s art are motherhood, family, mythological characters and portrait images of women.

Presented at the exhibition will be the 22 sculptural works: King Tamar, Worrior Women, The Archer woman, the portrait of Lali Tevzadze and other artworks among them.
