Avto Mosiashvili Solo Exhibition

20 June 2023 10:00 - 2 July 2023 18:00

Dimitri Shevardnadze National Gallery presents the solo exhibition of artist Aleksandre (Avto) Mosiashvili. Avto Mosiashvili was born in the city of Dusheti. When he graduated school, he pursued his studies in painting at the I. Nikoladze Art School in Tbilisi. He later enrolled in the Tbilisi Art Academy, specializing in Fine Arts. In 1986, he was awarded a gold medal at the international exhibition of artists in Tokyo, and in 1990, Mosiashvili was honored with the title of Honored Artist of Georgia. In 2017, he received the title of “Praiseworthy Didubean” along with a medal. The artist was given the Medal of Honor in 2018, after being nominated by the Artists Union of Georgia. In 2019, he was honored with the Davit Kakabadze Award.

Avto Mosiashvili’s strongly individual vision and professionalism are clearly reflected in his abstract works from his early period. In most of his pieces, the artist liberates forms from the constraints of the real world. His compositions depict space and infinity through a harmonious synthesis of line and color expression.

His biography includes numerous group and solo exhibitions. Avto Mosiashvili’s artworks have been showcased in various countries, including France, Norway, Poland, Italy, England, etc. In 2004, Georgian National Gallery hosted solo exhibition dedicated to the artist. His works are preserved in Shalva Amiranashvili Museum of Fine Arts, as well as in the Tretyakov Gallery and Oriental Art Museum in Russia.

Opening on June 21st at 18:00.
