As a landscape watercolorist, she regularly participated in spring and autumn exhibitions and creative workshops organized under the auspices of the Artists\u2019 Union.<\/p><p>After graduating from the Tbilisi State Academy of Arts (Iosif Charlemagne\u2019s studio), Asitashvili continued her professional training at the Restoration Studio of the Dresden Art Gallery (1960\u20131966), where, under the guidance of Heinrich Schwagrous, she mastered the profession of painting restorer. During her studies and work in Dresden, she participated in the restoration of more than 150 artworks in the gallery\u2019s collection, including paintings by Titian, D\u00fcrer, Rubens, Van Dyck, and Correggio.<\/p><p>Upon her return to Tbilisi, at the invitation of Academician Shalva Amiranashvili, she became head of the newly established Laboratory of Painting Restoration and Conservation at the Georgian Museum of Fine Arts (1964\u20131985).<\/p><p>Under her direction, significant restoration projects were carried out, including Rubens\u2019s <em>The Love Meeting<\/em>, Cranach\u2019s <em>The Matchmaker<\/em>, and several works by Niko Pirosmani: <em>The Janitor<\/em>, <em>The Cook<\/em>, <em>The Feast with the Clarinet Player Datiko Zemel<\/em>, <em>The Goat<\/em>, <em>The Epic of Kakheti<\/em>, and <em>The Feast in Front of a Two-Storey House<\/em>.<\/p><p>In 1971, Asitashvili was invited to teach at the Tbilisi State Academy of Arts, where she founded and chaired the Department of Painting Restoration and Conservation \u2014 thereby establishing the Georgian school of easel painting restoration.
