His images were endeared to all bringing the nationwide fame to the sculptor. \u00a0<\/p><p>\u00a0Throughout his prolific creative life he received multiple highest-ranking awards and accolades established in the field of arts: he was the Honored Artist (1956) and People&#8217;s Artist (1978) of the Soviet Georgia, the People&#8217;s Artist of the Soviet Union (1987).\u00a0 He was awarded a number \u00a0of state awards: in 1975 &#8211; the Rustaveli State Prize, in 2001 &#8211; the commemorative medal of Fridtjof Nansen, the Nobel Peace Prize laureate, and in 2014 &#8211; the &#8220;Hierophant \u00a0of Art&#8221; title, the special award of the Georgian Ministry of Culture for outstanding \u00a0contribution into arts. \u00a0<\/p><p>He was also very active in teaching holding a professorship at the Tbilisi State Academy of Art and being \u00a0\u00a0a member-correspondent of the Georgian Academy of Sciences.<\/p><p>Merab Berdzenishvili graduated from the Tbilisi State Academy of Art under the guidance of Professor Nikoloz Kandelaki. Diploma work &#8211; &#8220;Rustaveli&#8221; cast in plaster (1956) is currently showcased at the National Library of the Parliament of Georgia. The same, bronze-cast \u00a0monument was erected in Moscow in 1966.<\/p><p>Merab Berdzenishvili participated in the country\u2019s national selection competition for the monument to \u00a0King Vakhtang Gorgasli in 1958, where he received the second prize. (The first prize went to Elguja Amashukeli&#8217;s project).<\/p><p>He sculptured a \u00a0monument to Medea (bronze) for the Bichvinta resort complex in 1968, and \u00a0the equestrian statue \u00a0to Giorgi Saakadze, the famous Georgian general of the 17<sup>th<\/sup> century which was erected in two geographical locations: \u00a0in Kaspi (1971) and Tbilisi (1985).<\/p><p>In 1975, the monument to the King of Laos created by Merab Berdzenishvili was erected in Vientiane, the capital of Laos.<\/p><p>He was awarded the State Prize for \u00a0\u00a0the famous symbolic statue <em>They will <\/em><em>G<\/em><em>row <\/em><em>A<\/em><em>gain<\/em> \u00a0(bronze, 1975) \u00a0in Marneuli, and in 1995, together with the architect Tamaz Gabunia, he became the laureate of the same prize second time for Didgori sculptural-architectural complex, which memorizes the decisive Battle of Didgori, and is called the <em>miraculous victory<\/em> in Georgian chronicles.<\/p><p>The monuments created by him have become landmarks of Tbilisi: \u00a0<em>Muse<\/em> \u00a0(bronze, 1971), <em>Davit Guramishvili<\/em> \u00a0(cast iron, 1965), <em>Davit Aghmashenebeli<\/em> \u00a0(bronze, 1996).<\/p><p>In addition to the format of monumental sculpture, Merab Berdzenishvili worked prolifically \u00a0in portrait sculpture, book graphics and poster genre.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t<section class=\"elementor-section elementor-top-section elementor-element elementor-element-0dbe007 elementor-section-boxed elementor-section-height-default elementor-section-height-default\" data-id=\"0dbe007\" data-element_type=\"section\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-container elementor-column-gap-extended\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-column elementor-col-100 elementor-top-column elementor-element elementor-element-55a2bbf sc_inner_width_none sc_content_align_inherit sc_layouts_column_icons_position_left\" data-id=\"55a2bbf\" data-element_type=\"column\">\n\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-wrap elementor-element-populated\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-da23410 animation_type_block sc_fly_static elementor-widget elementor-widget-image-gallery\" data-id=\"da23410\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"image-gallery.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t<style>\/*!
