Gela Philauri was born on May 8, 1961 in Gori, Georgia. In 1976-1980 he studied in M. S. Tuganov Arts professional School, Tskhinvali, then at the Tbilisi State Academy of Arts, in 1981-1987. Gela Philauri is a member of many creative associations – since 1986 – member of USSR Young Artist’s Union; since 2012 – member of Georgian Artist’s Union; since 2012 – member of National Creative Unity of Georgian Artists; since 2015 – member of IWS (International Watercolor Society) Georgia; since 2017 – member in Circle Foundation for the Arts (Lyon, France); since 2019 – member of Eurasian Artist’s Union; since 2019 – member of International Association VATIKAM (Paris, France); 2020 – Associate Member of the National Pastel Society of Russia (НСП). In 1981 – 2000 he collaborated with the state literary publishing houses “Ganatleba”, “Nakaduli”, «Merani”; since 2000 – in private publishing houses, artist-illustrator. In 2019 – 2021, Gela won the American Art Awards, in 2018 – 2021 – the Russian Art Awards, in 2018 – 2020 he won the “Best Works of the Year” competition, VATIKAM (Paris, France). Gela Philauri’s awards: Gold Medal in the REALISM category (International Fine Arts Exhibit «ART CLASH», New York Realism Online Gallery, New York City, USA, 2016); Gold Medal in the GRAPHIC ART category (international online exhibition «ART & SHADOW», New York, USA, 2019); Gold Medal, first place in the nomination of THEMATIC COMPOSITION (Russian Cup of Artistic Work, Moscow, Russian Federation, 2019); Gold Medal in the REALISM category (International Fine Arts Competition «ART & SOCIETY», New York, USA, 2022). Gela Philauri has been participating in solo and group exhibitions since 1981 to the present day. Part of his works are in private and public collections in many countries of the world.
