A famous Georgian painter Tazo Khutsishvili graduated from Tbilisi State Academy of Art in 1966. Studied in the studio of Parnaoz Lapiashvili. In 1967-1999 worked as a teacher in the same Academy. From 1996 teaches painting at the faculty of Arts in Iv. Javakhishvili State University. From his student years he actively takes part in exhibitions. From 1965 takes part in the exhibitions and festivals arranged by Artists Union or Artists Fund of Georgia, as well as in the countries of the Soviet Union. Wide society is well aware of his paintings, as well as his graphic works. He is the author of numerous book illustrations and he has also designed several films, and was stage and costume designer in various drama and music theaters of Georgia. His works are preserved in Sh. Amiranashvili Fine Arts Museum, Tretyakov Gallery and the Art Museum of People of East (Moscow), Art Institute Collections in St. Peterburg and private collections in different countries. In 1993 Tamaz Khucishvili was awarded a National Art Prize.
